The seed
The idea for Poetry Planting was inspired by a second-hand copy of Howard’s End, which I purchased in a cramped and mouldy bookshop in the Southern Highlands, Australia. Howard’s End is extraordinary enough on its own, but between the pages of the book, someone had slipped a handwritten poem. This gift felt even more special, because I had no idea who had given it to me, and because the giver had no idea where the poem would end up. I hope that, through Poetry Planting, other folk will experience a similar kind of wonder.
Thank you, Poem Fairy, wherever you may be - you've inspired more than you realise.
