What is Poetry Planting?
Poetry Planting is a community project which shares poems in a personal and individual way. Planters write out poems they love on paper and leave them where someone will find them. It’s an anonymous exercise, with only the poet acknowledged.
Who can plant?
Everyone is welcome to participate, no matter where they are or what languages they read. To find out how to be a Planter, see http://poetryplanting.weebly.com/be-a-planter.html.
Why plant?
Poems are one of the most powerful inventions of humankind. They can evoke inspiration, wonder, empathy, amusement, comfort and reflection. Often, they articulate the more complex aspects of existence.
To truly read poetry, you must stop, focus, and attend to every carefully chosen word. To give someone a poem is a great gift. You are offering a moment of stillness in which the reader can connect with their humanity.
